Training Collaboration With Yayasan Pema Norbu Vihara (YPNV)

Recently, HELP University received a grant of RM 100,000 from Yayasan Pema Norbu Vihara (YPNV), an official centre of the Palyul lineage of Tibetan Buddhism located in Kuala Lumpur, for a collaboration on research and training with Palyul Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe, South India.

This was in conjunction with the visit of H.E Gyang Khang Khentrul Rinpoche, Head Abbot of Palyul Namdroling Monastery, to HELP University, Bukit Damansara, KL.

The handing over of the training grant was done by YPNV which was represented by senior members of the Board of Trustees, Tan Ghee Yong, Rita Sim, Susan Sim, Veronica Choong and Patron Datin Alice Sim. Lama Gonpo Tashi, the Resident Lama of the YPNV Centre, accompanied the members of the Board of Trustees to the ceremony at HELP University.

Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, Vice-Chancellor and President of HELP University, together with Datin Chan-Low Kam Yoke, CEO of HELP Education Group, were both present at the launch and expressed their delight with the collaboration, saying it was a first for HELP University and that they looked forward to working with the monastery. Dr Khong Kim Hoong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and Professor Dato’ Dr Zakaria Ahmad, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), HELP University were also present at the launch.

H.E Gyang Khang Khentrul Rinpoche, in his speech during the handing over of the grant, said that the monastery was happy to work with a prestigious and well-known university such as HELP and that they looked forward to the collaboration as a pathway for the monks to gain knowledge in various fields.

The collaboration was also a first for the monastery and for H.E. Gyang Khang Khentrul Rinpoche, who thanked the YPNV for this collaborative opportunity and the benefits that it would bring to the Buddhists monks. H.E. Gyang Khang Khentrul Rinpoche and his entourage was taken on a guided tour of HELP University’s Subang 2 campus at Subang Bestari where he was again impressed by the facilities and the professionalism of the courses conducted there.
