The winning teams displaying their accolades proudly with the members of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting.
HELP University’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting recently hosted the Accounting Quiz Competition 2017 Grand Finals at the Subang 2 campus, HELP University on July 8, 2017.The objective of the competition was to provide secondary students with the opportunity to build and test their analytical skills and levels of competency in accounting.
The competition was open to all Form 5 and Form 6 students from the secondary schools in Malaysia, as well as those who are taking the Malaysian Chinese Secondary Schools Unified Examination (UEC). Two rounds of quizzes were conducted during the Grand Finals. In the first round, the best 15 teams from the North, South, East Coast and Central regions of Malaysia competed, and the eight teams with the highest score advanced to compete for the top three places in the second round of the Grand Finals.
Wilfred Hew Han Jie, Victor Tan and Ng Chuan Xuan from Chong Hwa High School, Kluang won the Accounting Quiz Competition 2017.
At the end of the competition, Chong Hwa High School, Kluang, was crowned the champion of the event, followed by SMJK Katholik and Tsun Jin High School as the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. Each member of the winning teams was presented with trophies, and the champion team received the challenge trophy and RM1,500 cash. The first runner-up and second runner-up received RM1,000 and RM800 cash respectively. Each member of the other five teams in the second round received a trophy as a consolation prize.
“We were shocked as we didn’t expect it to happen. We tried our best and hoped for the best result. To prepare for the challenge, we worked on a lot past year papers, revised on our study notes, and participated in other competitions,” said Wilfred Hew Han Jie, one of the members of the champion team. He further added that he believed the revision that they did for the accounting quiz competition will help them in their preparation for the upcoming UEC exams.
12 schools from the four regions of Malaysia (North, South, East Coast and Central) gathered at the Subang 2 campus of HELP University to compete in the final round of the Accounting Quiz Competition 2017.
The other nine secondary schools that advanced to the Grand Finals include SMK Mutiara Rini, Johor Bahru, SMK (P) Methodist, Ipoh, SMK Menglembu, Ipoh, Shen Jai High School, Ipoh, SMK Abdul Rahman Talib, Kuantan, SM Teknik Kuantan, Kuantan, SMK Semambu, Kuantan, SMK Sultan Abu Bakar , Kuantan and Chong Hwa Independent High School, Kuala Lumpur.
Established in 1986, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting is one of the oldest and largest academic faculties at HELP University. The faculty is well-known for its academic excellence and depth of the programmes, accreditation for transfer to, and recognition by world-class universities as well as tight links with the industry.
