HELP University will run the ANU-HELP Student Mobility Programme 2018, titled “Constructing Asia: Governance, Institutions and Identity”, from 3 January 2018 to 9 February 2018. There will be four ANU students and three HELP students joining this year’s programme. Datuk Dr Paul Chan welcomed the seven participants at a small reception where he shared his views on the importance of developing analytical skills and problem-solving talents when tackling problems working in a global market.
The 2018 Student Mobility Programme (SMP) at HELP University has been specially planned for students from Australia, Europe and America under the Education for Peace and Prosperity (EPP) banner. By employing HELP University’s academic strength and pedagogy, and juxtaposing against the backdrop of “Malaysia, Truly Asia”, the SMP at HELP University provides international students with the opportunity to expand their intellectual and cultural understanding of Asia through travel and study while remaining enrolled in their home institutions. The whole experience will develop the capabilities and talents of international students to become globally mobile, culturally adept and successful at working with diverse populations in an array of fields.
Under the SMP, graduate and undergraduate students from all over the world can take credit and non-credit courses at HELP University. Studying at HELP University exposes students to a global experience as Malaysia is a microcosm of Asia where civilisations meet and the major religions are practised freely.
The Constructing Asia: Governance, Institutions and Identity (Mgt 210) Programme contains key components of lectures and seminars, field trips and industry placements to enhance the students’ learning experience. The course is facilitated by a team of highly experienced academics and industry experts who will guide students through discussions of various topics that will help them develop an in-depth understanding of Asia.
The Academic Team for the ANU-Student Mobility Programme 2018 will be led by Mr Baldev Singh Sidhu (Module Leader and Head of Department of University of London Programmes, HELP Academy). He will be joined by Dr Edmund Oh (Associate Professor, ELM Graduate School, HELP University), Mr Shahriman Lockman (Senior Analyst of Foreign Policy and Security Studies Programme, International Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), Malaysia), Dr Arujunan Narayanan and Dr Jaspal Kaur Sadhu Singh (Senior Lecturers, Faculty of Law and Government, HELP University).
