Seventy-five new SASA scholars were welcomed into the HELP University fraternity today in a ceremony attended by their parents, heads of departments, current SASA scholars and HELP Vice Chancellor and President Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan.

Fifty-eight of them will be joining pre-university and diploma programmes, while 17 will enter degree programmes at HELP.

SASA was initiated in 2005 to identify SPM, STPM, IGSCE and UEC SM3 students with a good academic record and proven leadership qualities to be nurtured as all-rounded achievers at HELP.

Mr and Mrs Dhillon Singh with SASA scholar son Shabir who will join the A-Levels programme (Cambridge IE). The parents’ belief in HELP motivated them to enrol their two older sons in HELP for A-Levels; one of them is studying medicine in the Perdana University-Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (PU-RCSI) programme, the other at the London School of Economics. They will pay the Vice Chancellor a visit when everyone is home from their studies.

Mr and Mrs Sukhdir Singh made a family presence at the SASA ceremony: they brought along son Gurjeet Singh to witness daughter Harjeet Kaur’s initiation into the SASA programme. Gurjeet obtained 1 A* and 2 As in the Cambridge A-Levels programme and is now studying Electrical Engineering at Universiti Malaya. Harjeet Kaur will study for her A-Levels at HELP (Cambridge option).

There are many similar stories of families enrolling their children in HELP out of a conviction that HELP is unmatched in nurturing students for scholastic excellence, character and leadership formation and the inculcation of positive values and ethical behaviour as the foundation for a meaningful and fulfilling life.
