ABOUT THE COURSE

Our BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance gives you a sound knowledge of accounting and business, which will enable you to take up a management position in industry and commerce, or become a professional accountant.

Throughout the degree we will also be developing your personal, transferable skills. These are the skills that will complement your academic knowledge and improve your employability.

You will develop your communication, report writing and presentation skills, and be able to manage your time and work to meet deadlines. You will be able to work independently and be self-motivated, and also work effectively and constructively as part of a team. These skills are vital to your success, wherever you see your career developing.

HOW YOU WILL LEARN

There are a range of assessment methods used throughout the degree. In the first stage, the range of assessments include computer-based assessments, examinations, essays, business reports and portfolios. All of these are designed to help you gauge your own level of learning by giving you feedback on how you do so that it helps your learning in a constructive way.

At the second and third stages, you will be assessed mainly by examinations, but also by essays, business reports, portfolios and presentations. Again, all of these are designed to help you gauge your own level of learning, by giving you feedback on how you do so that it helps your learning in a constructive way.

There is always a demand for accounting graduates. As an accountant you will have the opportunity to work in many diverse fields, anywhere in the world.

We have designed the degree in such a way that it allows you to be eligible to apply for the maximum exemptions from ACCA professional qualifications, subject to the module pathway you select. This shortens the time required for you to become a fully qualified member of your chosen professional body.

Applicants must have one of the following Entry requirements:

    Pass in any two subjects (Grade C, GP2.00)
  • A-level
    Pass in any two subjects
  • UEC
    5Bs (Include Math & English)
  • HELP Foundation in Arts / Foundation in Science
    Pass with minimum CGPA 2.0
  • HELP Diploma in Business* / Diploma in Information Technology*
    Pass with minimum CGPA 2.0
  • CPU
    Average of 70% in 6 subjects
  • SAM
    TER 70%
  • TEE
    University aggregate 50%
  • International Baccalaureate
    Minimum score of 24 points
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
    Minimum average of 60% in 2 subjects
  • Equivalent Foundation / Matriculation Programme accredited by Malaysian government
    Pass with a minimum CGPA 2.5
  • Equivalent Diploma* / Advance Diploma* / Degree* programmes accredited by Malaysian government
    Pass with a minimum CGPA 2.5. (Exemptions are possible if academic transcripts and course syllabus are submitted for assessment together with application)
  • Malaysian Skill Diploma (DKM) Level 4, approved by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran / Jabatan Tenaga Malaysia (JPK/JTM)
    Pass
  • Assessment of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)* / open entry qualifications as recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (candidate should be of age 21 on 1st day of the year of application).

To be assessed by DOMS, HA. Qualifications are to be submitted for assessment together with application
