As an internationally connected university, HELP University’s American Degree Program (ADP) has transferred students to hundreds of universities in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. HELP’s university students have also transferred to reputable and highly ranked universities worldwide, namely New York University, Princeton University, University of Chicago, Duke University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of British Columbia, York University and Lakehead University.
HELP’s ADP has maintained close relationships with its partner universities which allow students to maximize the number of credit transfers and planned articulation pathways leading to those partner universities. The department also uses an American-style approach specifically designed by experts in various fields, which allows its transfer credits to be accepted by over 100 of the best universities around the world.
“When you are in an American Degree Program, the most important thing is whether your credits are able to be transferred to the universities in the United States,” said Brendan Yap, who was an ADP student at HELP and transferred to New York University through the Securities Commission Scholarship Award. “I realized that HELP’s ADP has one of the most transferable credits. For an ADP student, that is going to be really important.”
Recently, a team of delegates from Lakehead University (LU) which consisted of Dr Brian Stevenson, LU’s former President and Vice-Chancellor; Dr Moira McPherson, LU’s Interim President and Vice-Chancellor; and Regional Relations Managers from Lakehead University International, Sherlyn Lee and Adrian Ting, made a visit to HELP University.
The two institutions discussed future arrangements for credit transfers and pathways for HELP ADP students who choose to study at LU. Another extra benefit that LU provided to HELP students is their attractive scholarships. LU will be extending a Visionary Scholarship worth $2,000 CAD to ten accepted applicants from HELP University, in addition to an Entrance Scholarship. Entrance Scholarships worth up to $30,000 CAD for 4 years, depending on the students’ academic average (Canadian equivalent), will be available.
HELP’s ADP signed an MOU agreement with Lakehead University in August 2017. The two institutions mutually agreed to provide a transfer pathway for HELP ADP students. Students will commence their studies at HELP University and complete their remaining three years at Lakehead University in Ontario, Canada.
Lakehead University is a public research university with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia in Ontario, Canada. The university was ranked number one in Canada for research in the category of undergraduate universities by Re$earch Infosource since 2015. Lakehead is also the proud host to nine Canada Research Chairs and revolutionary facilities such as their world-renowned Paleo-DNA Laboratory and their Biorefining Research Institute.
Lakehead University offers a broad range of programs in business administration, education, engineering, natural resources management, health and behavioral sciences, medical school, law, science and environmental studies, social sciences and humanities, and graduate studies.
HELP’s ADP has also a long established partnership with the University of Waterloo (UW), where nearly a hundred HELP ADP students have transferred to pursue their Actuarial Science, Data Science and other Mathematics-related degree. HELP has also collaborated with UW on several occasions to conduct the Mathematics Workshop held at HELP University.
Students who wish to transfer to UW are offered the opportunity to complete one year of their studies at HELP before transferring to the UW’s co-operative (co-op) program to complete their degree.
The University of Waterloo is a public research university located in Waterloo, Ontario. The university is most famous for its co-operative education program, which allows students to integrate their education with applicable work experiences. They also operate the largest post-secondary co-op program of its kind in the world.
HELP’s ADP offers an established and accessible transfer pathway for students through scholarship opportunities and transfer options to several universities worldwide. The department also offers a wide range of subjects to enable students to develop a well-rounded understanding of the world. Apart from the academic aspect, a number of extra-curricular activities are also planned throughout the year.
The American Degree Program at HELP is two years of study that prepares a student to complete their Bachelor’s degree in the United States or Canada. Upon completion of most of the general education requirement and some pre-major courses, students can apply to transfer to a US or Canadian university of their choice. Furthermore, students could also continue locally with HELP’s Business, Psychology or Communications degree programs after completing two years in HELP’s ADP if a student decides not to transfer to a US or Canadian university.
The ADP department at HELP University has four intakes each year and their upcoming intake is in March 2018.
